Brie Larson took home the Oscar for Best Actress at this year's Academy Awards after a string of high-profile wins leading up to the big night.
Larson, whose nuanced performance in the emotionally charged drama, Room, has received universal acclaim, gave a heartfelt and earnest acceptance speech, thanking everyone involved with the success of the film, including the moviegoers.
Backstage, Larson was given a chance to elaborate on her acceptance speech, during which she dedicated her award to "the men and women who have survived sexual abuse."
"I was trying my best to tell their story and I hope I did right by them, " Larson elaborated.
It was the first Oscar win (and nomination) for the 26-year-old actress, who previously garnered rave reviews for her work in The Spectacular Now and Short Term 12, both in 2013.
Larson has been cleaning up this awards season, taking home the top prize at the SAG Awards, the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes.
In fact, Larson almost missed her Golden Globes win after taking a bathroom break. The actress recounted the hilarious near-mishap to ET in January, explaining, "All I remember is I needed to go to the bathroom."
"I went to the bathroom and as I was leaving, Helen Mirren was like, 'Don't go right now. Your category is coming up.' And I said, 'No it's not. I've got like an hour to go.' Then Kate Winslet was like, 'Don't go right now.' I said, 'I have to. I still have an hour.' I wasn't looking at the clock, which was a big problem."
