Join us as we watch the MTV Movie Awards. Who will win best male and female performances? How about best scared as s*** performance? Of course, there’s also the newest category: best shirtless performance. All that, plus a new clip from “Iron Man 3” and the “Hunger Games: Catching Fire: teaser debut.
There’s also scheduled performances from Selena Gomez, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and a “Pitch Perfect” cast reunion. What other surprises are in store? The fun got started on the red carpet, with a star-studded “Celebrity Catfish” featuring Anna Kendrick and Mark Wahlberg, among others.
Rebel Wilson hosts this year’s show, and based on promos for the show, it’s going to be a blast! The MTV Movie Awards are live at 9 p.m. ET. Tune in and follow along! All times are Eastern.
9:00 — The show opens with Wilson crashing to the stage in her very own “Iron Mangina” suit of armor, care of James Franco. After a quick song, she’s joined by the male cast of “Pitch Perfect, ” as the guys rap to the tune of Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” The ladies, minus Anna Kendrick, join in next for Alicia Keys’ “This Girl is on Fire” and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop.”
9:10 — Wilson’s monologue starts out with jokes about North Korea and and Lena Dunham’s nether regions. She also joked about this being the 100th anniversary of the show, revealing categories from the first show in 1913, including: Best Mustache and Best Women Tied to Train Tracks.
9:12 — After a pretty short monologue, Melissa McCarthy is out first to hand out the first award for Best Male Performance. Bradley Cooper wins for “Silver Linings Playbook.” Keep track of all of tonight’s awards with our winner’s list.
9:20 — Rebel reveals her cue cards to the audience and, instead of having her jokes written on them, they’re filled with pictures of Channing Tatum’s naked behind.
9:21 — Wilson introduced Adam Sandler and Chris Rock with a dig at their next movie, “These two have starred in some of your favorite comedies you’ve ever seen and they also star in “Grown Ups 2.”
9:22 — Sandler and Rock are out to present Best WTF Moment. They talk about their own personal WTF moments, but it was all censored from the crowd. What little bit got through included a horse and maybe Ryan Gosling. Jamie Foxx and Samuel L. Jackson win the award for “Django Unchained.” As Best WTF Moment is the fan award, Jackson thanks the audience and throws out a signature “motherf*****” before they leave the stage.
9:30 — Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto are presenting the award for Best Fight, after a clip showing the total destruction of the Enterprise from the upcoming “Star Trek Into Darkness.” “The Avengers” wins the golden popcorn. Accepting the award are Chris Pine, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston and their director Joss Whedon.
9:34 — Eddie Redmayne introduced a video that showcases Emma Watson’s movies, as she’s being given the Trailblazer award. Next up is Logan Lerman, who talks about working with Watson twice, before throwing to a video of Jonah Hill. Hill announces that he and Emma will be starring the the movie adaptation of “Fifty Shades of Grey, ” and lets her know his safe word is “tangerine.”
9:38 — Watson thanks everyone for being with her as she grew up on screen, and notes how bad her hair was in the first “Harry Potter” movie.
9:47 — Did you know Rebel Wilson was in “Les Miserables?” The host shows off some newly found footage with her singing behind Anne Hathaway in her scenes from the movie. The director wasn’t amused. Next Rebel shows up as the Tiger in “Life of Pi” and a stripper in “Magic Mike, ” giving birth on stage. Naturally, all of her scenes were deleted.
9:51 — Steve Carell and Amanda Seyfried are presenting the Best Kiss award. Steve’s favorite kiss is from “Silence of the Lambs, ” when Anthony Hopkins bites a guard’s face, of course. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper win for “Silver Linings Playbook.” Lawrence isn’t in attendance, much to the audience’s dismay. Cooper is there to accept, though, and according to him “she was great to kiss.”
9:53 — A smoking Snoop Dogg/Lion and Ke$ha are out next to introduce Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who are performing their newest song “Can’t Hold Us.”
10:02 — Rebel shows up with her stuffed koala, named Chlamydia. The bear has a camera installed in it, which she walks through the crowd, getting up close and personal with celebrities in attendance. Zooming in on Quvenzhan� Wallis’ cat purse reveals a bunch of empty bottles of alcohol. Rebel jokes that her next role should be in “Beasts of the Southern Comfort.”
10:05 — “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage is out next to give the Comedic Genius award to Will Ferrell. Though Will knows comedy, Peter has a list of things he doesn’t know. How not to stare at someone wife in a bikini, how to order Chinese food without sounding racist, and how to fart the alphabet are just a few things Will Ferrel doesn’t know.
10:09 — Dinklage falls to his knees as Will takes the stage and shouts “Comedic Genius!” In a suit made to look like it’s covered in $100 bills, and dark sunglasses he calls himself a simple guy who just wants to dress like Dennis Rodman. “Parks and Rec” star Aubrey Plaza walks on stage and tried to take Ferrell’s trophy away, but no such luck.
10:12 — Will offers to fight anyone who doesn’t thing he’s funny in the parking lot, after the show, with Dinklage helping him out. He then introduces his “family, ” including a little boy he calls Chow Yun Fat. He talks about his “30-year marriage” to his wife, and how she refuses to learn English, before thanking the fans for their support.
10:20 — The cast of “Fast & Furious 6” is on-hand to present the award for Breakthrough Performance. Vin Diesel reminisces attending the 2002 MTV Movie Awards with Paul Walker for the first “Fast and the Furious, ” where they won an award for Best Duo.
10:22 — Big surprise, Rebel Wilson wins for “Pitch Perfect.” Rebel says she specifically acts to win awards and make money. She says the only way it would be better is if Zac Efron would take off his shirt and kissed her. Standing just off-stage, to present with Seth Rogen and Danny McBride, Efron gives her the kiss but doesn’t take off his shirt.
10:25 — Rogen, Efron, and McBride are out to give the award for Best Shirtless Performance. Rogen and McBride decide to have a best bottomless performance contest on stage. Seth drops his pants to reveal he’s covered in hair, while Danny is wearing a chastity belt with a giant lock. As luck would have it, Rogen found the key to the lock in his hair the other day.
