Oscar Winning Foreign Movies

Forget the Red Carpet! Watch These Oscar-Winning Foreign Films for Free Before the Show

If going to wild Oscar parties isn't really your thing, Criterion is offering a much more relaxed way to gear up for tonight's festivities. (And it doesn't require any awkward social interactions - or pants!)

For their free Hulu festival this week, Criterion has chosen some of their favorite Foreign Language Oscar-winning films from some of the greatest filmmakers in history, like Akira Kurosawa and Ingmar Bergman, and made them free to watch on Hulu — no subscription required. Here are the titles:

  • Rashomon (dir. Akira Kurosawa, 1950)
  • Babette's Feast (dir. Gabriel Axel, 1987)
  • Black Orpheus (dir. Marcel Camus, 1959)
  • Through a Glass Darkly (dir. Ingmar Bergman, 1962)
  • (dir. Costa-Gavras, 1969)
  • Fanny and Alexander (dir. Ingmar Bergman, 1982)
  • The Great Beauty (dir. Paulo Sorrentino, 2013)
  • Closely Watched Trains (dir. Jiří Menzel, 1966)
'Fanny and Alexander' (1982)

It might interest you to know, too, that there are also a couple of Oscar-nominated films on Hulu that can be watched for free
