Fox Searchlight won big at the 2015 Oscars with both "Birdman" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel" taking home four trophies each.

It was a big night for independent film. Besides the big wins for “Birdman” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel, ” last year’s Sundance breakout, Sony Pictures Classics’ “Whiplash” took home three awards in the categories for film editing, sound mixing and best supporting actor. Patricia Arquette of “Boyhood” also took home the gold for best supporting actress.
