Image Credit: Claire FolgerJeremy Renner has a reason to rest. The actor, in Vancouver shooting Mission: Impossible 4, was alerted to his Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Town after a rough night of sleep. “I was certainly not awake, ” Renner tells EW. “I was awakened by some phone calls. And I had a really hard time sleeping last night – for several reasons, but knowing this thing was happening in the morning is really nerve-wracking.”
Renner was nominated for an Oscar just last year for his work in The Hurt Locker, but the actor never anticipated his role in The Town would land him yet another nod. “I certainly knew it was a flashy role, ” he says. “It was electric on the page. But there’s so many things that can go wrong when making a film, who knows what it will turn out to be? And [we] certainly pulled together a fantastic film and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Renner will have to wait until Feb. 27 to find out whether or not he’ll pick up the prize, but, for now, the actor can celebrate the nomination with his Town co-star and director, Ben Affleck. “I haven’t spoken to him, ” Renner says. “I just got onto my iPad and I’m looking at something from him right now and I need to call him. He’s elated and I can’t wait to talk to him. I’m calling him now!”
