The Oscars Pick the Best Movie Sets of the Year

In 2015 moviegoers were transported through time and space, from the wilds of the American frontier to the barren landscape of Mars. This morning the talents behind five of the year’s most remarkable movie settings were honored with Academy Award nominations for Best Achievement in Production Design. Among the honorees are 2014 Oscar winner for The Grand Budapest Hotel Adam Stockhausen, who is nominated this year for Steven Spielberg’s Cold War thriller Bridge of Spies, as well several first-time nominees, Rena DeAngelo and Bernhard Henrich (Bridge of Spies), Michael Standish (The Danish Girl), Colin Gibson and Lisa Thompson (Mad Max: Fury Road), and Hamish Purdy (The Revenant). The awards will be presented Sunday, February 28, at 8 p.m. in the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center. Read on for the complete list of nominees.
