What a great sport! candidly told Us Weekly on Friday, February 26, that he believes 2016 is ’s year to win it all at the Oscars.
Asked if he thought his fellow best actor nominee was on track to take home the trophy at Sunday night's show, Redmayne, 34, seemed confident it would be the Revenant star’s year. (DiCaprio has never won an Academy Award, though he was previously nominated five times in the best actor categories.)
“I think it’s pretty much certainly is, ” Redmayne told Us during a reception for The Film is Great, “and it’s so well deserved.”

Redmayne is also nominated this year, for the second time, for his leading role as artist Einar Wegener in The Danish Girl.
The British-born actor has previously had major roles in Les Misérables (as Marius), The Theory of Everything (his Oscar-winning turn as Stephen Hawking) and My Week with Marilyn (as bumbling pal Colin Clark).
“It’s impossible to get your head around what this circus is, ” he told Us of dealing with all the press surrounding an Oscar nomination. “But it’s so much fun to be a part of, and you try just to, kind of, really, just sort of pinch yourself and take stock of all the memories, so that in years from now, you look back on it and try to really work out what it all was.”
Others nominated for Best Actor this year include for Trumbo, for The Martian and for Steve Jobs.
