WATCH: Original voice cast of 1992 hit ‘Aladdin’ sings ‘A Whole New World’

The original voice cast of Disney’s 1992 hit “Aladdin” reunited Friday on “Good Morning America” for a rendition of what is arguably the movie’s best-known song, “A Whole New World.”

Lea Salonga, who played Jasmine, and Brad Kane, who lent his voice to Aladdin, sang along with songwriter Alan Menken on the piano. The best part? Aladdin and Jasmine sound exactly the same as they did 23 years ago.

In fact, it was the first time Kane and Solanga performed the ballad since 1993 at the 65th Academy Awards. They won the Oscar for Best Original Song that year.

Kane told MTV in August that he has only performed “A Whole New World” twice: at the Academy Awards and on his wedding day.

Both Salonga’s and Kane’s careers extended past “Aladdin” into Broadway and other parts of show biz. Kane is currently writing for “Black Sails” on Starz.

“I just wanted that very romantic feeling of a flight over the city, ” Menken said of his experience in writing the instantly recognizable song. The the eight-time Oscar winner said it’s a favorite at weddings.

The “Aladdin Diamond Edition” is set to release Oct. 13. The movie has been trapped in the Disney vault since 2008.

The new release will contain never-before-seen bonus content, including outtakes of the late Robin Williams, who played the genie.
